Congratulations to Kevin Tunstall and Jean Brackenridge for winning the Sussex Singles, which were held at Burgess Hill CC on Sunday 12th January.
KT defended the title with a superb performance where he hardly missed a ball all day and was a deserved winner on a high scoring day. Kevin beat shock finalist Stuart Carruthers. Stuart started the Final with a break of 10,000 but that wasn’t even enough to win the first leg and KT played it out for 11,310 and then started the second leg with a flawless 10,400.
Kevin had beaten Matthew Knight in the semi-final while Stuart beat Martin Smith.
Nigel Senior won the highest break awarded for the second day in a row with another 20k play-out of 20,950.
The Plate was also won by the defending champion as Barry Holt won for the second year in a row when beating Kevin Hall in the Final.
Jean won the Ladies competition after defeating Michelle Baden in the Final. Jean had played well all day but only won her group on aggregate after losing her opening match in Jan Bithell in a high scoring game. Michelle had a more comfortable route to the Final topping her group with three wins.
In the Plate Final Jan Bithell beat Lorraine Hall.
Jean also had the highest break with 13,490 in a group game.
