Inter League 2022/23 Series Three Round-Up

The big clash in Division One saw Brighton A take on Worthing A at the Stags Head. Brighton had struggled in their first two matches losing both while Worthing were playing their first match of the season.
It started well for Brighton with Rob Hall winning the first leg but then the visitors took control. Joe Oakley made a slow and steady opener to win the second before Martin Smith won the third in a leg where both had chances.
The big moment came in leg four where Mike Daw took advantage of a misfiring Chris Tupper to put Worthing 3-1 up. Stuart Mepham then sealed the win but not without drama, he missed early and Nigel Senior got 8k up but missed to allow Stu enough time to catch.
Brighton got two consolation legs from Matt Knight and Kevin Hall.
In the other match in Division One Brighton B started strongly at home to Redhill A before the visitors hit form to win 5-2.
Alan Brackenridge and Jack Baden put the hosts 2-0 and it looked likely to be 3-0 but a Michelle Baden miss allowed John Slee to take advantage. Redhill A then won the next four with Gary Powell, Geoff Jukes, Colin Robbins and Dave Constable getting the wins.
In Division Two title favourites West Sussex suffered their first defeat losing 4-3 at home to Littlehampton.
The match followed a pattern with Littlehampton going a leg up before West Sussex fought back to level. Bill Harrison, John Dynes and Steve Beach won for the away team and Barry Holt, Daniel Wheal and Martin Cole won for West Sussex.
The left a decider between Alan Hitchman and Eric Mole and in a close leg Eric got the win.
Worthing B also suffered a 4-3 home defeat in their match against Lewes.
Jan Bithell, Dave Knight, Trevor Rees and Chase Newman all got good breaks and scores in wins for Lewes while James Whittle, Paul Barnett and Alan Mepham were victorious for the hosts.
The third match in the Division saw Redhill B run out comfortable 5-2 winners against Mid Sussex.
The home team had the match won in the first four legs with Martin Pellett, Alex Hornby, Mark Fraser and Michael Wilson all winning.
Martin Greenway added a fifth before Mid Sussex took the last two via Andy Farmer-Wright and Ros Appleby.
