Competitions Sussex Masters

The Chairman becomes the Master

Sussex Chairman Stuart Carruthers won his first county title when winning the Sussex Masters on Saturday 1st June at the Roffey Club.

The top 24 from the ranking list (after seven drop outs) were placed into eight seeded groups with the top in each progressing to the quarter-finals.

It became third time lucky for Stu in Sussex Finals having previously lost at the final hurdle in the Sussex Singles and Off The Spot. He beat Kevin Hall in the Final, battling back from being 14k by adding 2k to end the first leg and then touching on 15k in the second leg.

Stuart had beaten Martin Cole in a very close semi-final and Kev beat Steve Beach who had played very well to reach that stage. Daniel Wheal, Dave Ingram, Nigel Senior and Tony Jenner were the other group winners.

Bob Hall beat Chris Cox in the plate final.
