Redhill A produced what could be the performance of the season to beat defending champions Brighton A 7-0 at the Merstham Village Club.
All three of the Redhill break players came off early to give the visitors chances but they were unable to take them and their own break players generally had similar problems keeping on the table.
The seven successful Redhill players were in playing order – Geoff Jukes, John Slee, Dave Jones, Ricky Dewdney, Gary Powell, Colin Robbins and Michael Wilson.
Worthing A moved clear at the top of the table by beating West Sussex 4-3 at the Prince of Wales. All but one of the legs went against the break in a match which ebbed and flowed.
Stuart Mepham (Worthing) won the first but Barry Holt (West Sussex) fought back. The visitors went were on the hill after wins for Martin Smith and Gary Ridley but again West Sussex fought back with big guns Martin Cole and Chris Cox.
This left a decider but Melissa Beach was off early for the hosts and Stuart Carruthers got enough early to seal the Worthing win.
Worthing B versus Tunbridge Wells was postponed to Sunday 3rd November.
In Division Two looks set to be very closely contested this season and both matches were 4-3.
Mid Sussex won at Littlehampton by winning the first four legs with Ian Giffen, Ros Appleby, Derek Taylor and Andy Farmer-Wright all edging close legs. Steve Beach, Colin Green and John Dynes fought back for the hosts.
Redhill B won at home to Lewes with Clive Thompson getting the crucial leg against the break in the fifth against four-pin rival Colin Southouse. The three other winnings for the home team were Tom Pearse, Mark Fraser and Martin Pellett. The three winners for the visitors were Ric Bithell, Chase Newman and Jan Bithell.
