Worthing A maintained their 100 percent record in Division One with a 6-1 win over Worthing B at the Alexandra. Late replacement Chris Oakley won against the break in the first before Stuart Mepham and Kevin Tunstall put the A team 3-0 ahead. James Whittle got a leg for the home side but Martin Smith sealed the win in the fifth and Stuart Carruthers and Terry Molloy rounded off the win.
Brighton A moved second with a good 5-2 win at West Sussex’s new home venue of the Maypole. The first four legs went with the breaks with Kevin Charlton and Barry Holt winning for the hosts and Chris Tupper and Nigel Senior for the visitors. Brighton then powered away with Phil Osborne, Jim Millward and Matthew Knight taking the remaining legs.
Tunbridge Wells moved level on points with Redhill A with a commanding 6-1 win against the Surrey side. With the visitors struggling the hosts raced into a 4-0 win to get the win with Pete Sainsbury, Curt Driver, Ian Wright and Richard Corbould successful. Geoff Jukes pulled one back for the away team, but Martin Russell and Gerry Fitzjohn added the extra legs for the home side.
The sides in Division Two continue to be closely matched as Redhill B moved top with a narrow 4-3 win at home to Brighton B. The first four legs were shared with the break players taking the legs. Max Burt, Clive Thompson (Redhill), DJ Robins and Tim Scotney (Brighton B) were the winning players. The key leg was in the fifth when Alex Hornby won against the break for the hosts and although Greg Walsh levelled the match a good leg from Anita Blackman got the win.
Littlehampton are now second in the league after beating Lewes 4-3. Colin Green and Richard Davey put the home team 2-0 up, Chase Newman pulled one back before Chris Lawman restored the two-leg lead. Dave Knight won for the visitors but Dave Hampton secured the win for the hosts and then Colin Southouse got the consolation.
