Worthing A have built a strong position in Division One with a four point lead after beating Redhill A 5-2 at the Henty. The home team made a fast start with wins for Mike Daw and Stuart Mepham, Dave Jones pulled one back for Redhill but a win for Martin Smith returned the two leg advantage. John Slee kept the Surrey side in the match by winning the fifth leg but Joe Oakley and Kevin Tunstall sealed the win for the hosts.
Brighton A played their home match against Tunbridge Wells at the New Oak but it proved no problem for them as they won 5-2. Kevin Hall won the first but the visitors fought back with wins for Curt Driver and Gerry Fitzjohn. It was all Brighton after this point and Rob Hall, Matthew Knight, Jim Millward and Nigel Senior completed the win for the defending Champions.
Worthing B remained bottom after losing 5-2 at home to West Sussex. The first four legs were shared with the break players successful; Matt Jones and Roger Taylor for the hosts and Kevin Charlton and Barry Holt for the visitors. The win was sealed with two further break wins, this time from Martin Cole and Daniel Wheal before Chris Cox added the fifth leg in the last.
In Division Two Lewes had a big 6-1 home win against Brighton B. Jan Bithell, Richard Todd, Chase Newman, Alec Pope, and Ric Bithell won the first five legs. Michelle Baden won the sixth to avoid a whitewash but Huw Lincoln added the last for the hosts.
The home team also achieved a big win in the other match in the division with Mid Sussex beating Redhill B 5-2. The away went 2-0 up with wins for Alex Hornby and Martin Pellett but it was all the hosts after this with Ros Appleby, Mick Kirwan, Andy Farmer-Wright, Paul Jobbins and Derek Taylor winning.
