Inter League 2024/25 Series Five Round-Up

Despite missing a couple of players Worthing A maintained their 100 percent winning streak with a 4-3 win away at Tunbridge Wells. All of the legs went with breaks with very few chances across the legs as most players got decent breaks. Pete Sainsbury, Richard Corbould and Paul Sainsbury won for the Kent side and Mike Daw, Stuart Carruthers, Kevin Tunstall and Joe Oakley for Worthing.

Redhill A remain second in the table after a 4-3 home win against West Sussex. There was a shock in the first leg when Mel Beach got the away team off to the perfect start beating Geoff Jukes. The hosts fought back with Dave Jones and Gary Powell winning, before Alan Hitchman levelled the match; with all four of the first legs going against the break. Chris Cox stopped this trend winning the fifth leg for West Sussex and they looked likely to win the match when Martin Cole got to 7.8k but a missed split allowed Ricky Dewdney to come back for the win and then Colin Robbins wrapped up the match for the hosts.

Brighton A moved up to third with a 5-2 victory at Worthing B. The match was level after four legs with all four going to the break players; Rick Cunningham and Roger Taylor for Worthing and Rob Hall and Phil Osborne for Brighton. The last three legs all went the way of the visitors with Chris Tupper, Jim Millward and Matthew Knight winning.

At the halfway point Division Two is very tight with all five teams currently level on four points; with only a few legs separating top from bottom.

Top of the table are Lewes, who had the bye this series, and Redhill B moved second following a 6-1 win at home to Littlehampton. Redhill took control early and won the match in the first four legs with Max Burt, Tom Pearse, Martin Greenway and Martin Pellett successful. Colin Green stopped the rot for the visitors before Alex Hornby and Clive Thompson finished a strong home performance.

Brighton B won the other match in Division Two with a 5-2 home win against Mid Sussex. The south coast team also won the match in the first four legs with wins for Steve Burns, Mark Scott, Jack Baden and Michelle Baden. The last three legs were close with Ros Appleby winning for the away team, Tim Scotney for the hosts and then Paul Jobbins added Mid Sussex’s second leg.
