Henty successfully defend Watney Mann

The Henty (Worthing) defended the Watney Mann with a 7-3 win over the Maypole (Worthing) in the two-legged Final.

The Maypole got off to a fast start in the first leg at the Henty on Thursday 21st August with Joe Oakley winning the first game against the break before Martin Cole went off with enough in the second.

The Henty fought back by winning the remaining three legs with high scoring from Martin Smith, Mike Daw and Kevin Tunstall to leave the tie well balanced.

The second leg was played at the Maypole on Wednesday 3rd September and the visitors got off to a fast start with Martin Smith winning the opener. Stuart Carruthers and Kevin Tunstall then sealed the match with two scrappy wins on the tricky top.

The fourth leg was conceded by the Henty before Mike Daw won the last.

Martin Smith topped the individual averages during the tournament with four wins out of four and an average of 10,730.
