Series Four of the Home and Away Inter League took place on Sunday but for the second series in a row Covid and illness led to looks of postponement.
In Division One only one of the three matches were played but it was a big one with the top two from the last completed season meeting. Defending champions Brighton A have had a slow start to the season but bounced back to form with a 4-3 win over current season leaders Worthing A.
With Brighton A missing a couple of regulars Grant Tully filled in and put on first with the break he opened with a 10k and touch. This was followed by what proved to be the pivotal leg when Phil Osborne came back to win with a 8k break after Worthing’s Joe Oakley went off with just over 7k. The next two legs were shared in similar circumstances with Mike Daw (Worthing) and Kevin Hall (Brighton) both winning at the second opportunity. Worthing A drew level in the match Stuart Mepham and Martin Smith both winning with the break; but the decider was won by the ever-reliable Jim Millward opening with 9.5k.
Division Two also saw only one match played and it saw Redhill B move top of the table with a 6-1 home win against Lewes. Martin Pellett won the opener before Colin Southouse took what turned out to be Lewes’ only leg of the night. The remaining legs for Redhill were won by Mark Fraser, Anita Blackman, Nev Blackman, Jim Balchin and Alex Hornby.
