Covid continued to have an impact on the Inter League season with two of the five scheduled games postponed in Series Three due to players isolating following positive tests.
In Division One Worthing A’s home match against Brighton B was called off as was Worthing B’s game against Lewes.
Brighton A missed the chance to close the gap at the top of the Division One table as they lost 4-3 in a high-quality match away at Tunbridge Wells. Pete Sainsbury opened with a 10k break for the Kent side before Phil Osborne and Matthew Knight both won with the break to put Brighton in front. The next two legs were traded with both Curt Driver and Nigel Senior opening with 10k break before Tunbridge Wells won the crucial leg against the break with Martin Russell taking advantage of Rob Hall pegging two breaks. The decider was won by the hosts with Richard Corbould getting a winning break at the second attempt after he lost a 7k opening break when missing a ball.
Redhill A moved level on points with Worthing A at the top of the division with their second win of the season away at West Sussex. Tony Cross set them on their way with a win against the break and then Geoff Jukes opened with enough to extend the advantage. West Sussex fought back to square the game with Chris Cox winning a tight leg three and Daniel Wheal again opening with a winning break in a home game. Redhill A won the last three legs to win the match 5-2 with legs from John Slee, Dave Constable and Colin Robbins.
Littlehampton moved to the top of Division Two with a 4-3 home win against Mid Sussex. The hosts got off to a flying start by winning the first three legs with James Whittle, Steve Beach and John Dynes all getting the “W”. However Mid Sussex came back strongly with Ros Appleby, Steve King and Derek Taylor winning legs four to six to send the game into a decider. The ever reliable Dave Hampton was the hero for the home team with a solid leg to secure the points.
