Redhill A have a good home record against Brighton A and this continued as they beat the reigning Division One Champions 5-2.
The hosts raced out of the blocks and took full advantage of the opportunities presented to them to secure the points in the first four legs. Denise Wills, John Slee, Colin Robbins and Geoff Jukes were the successfully players.
Dave Ingram and Chris Tupper took the next two legs to add some respectability to the score for Brighton A before Dave Jones added the fifth leg for the hosts.
Worthing A’s home matches against Tunbridge Wells was postponed.
Division Two continues to be a close league with all three matches in the series ending 4-3.
Title favourites West Sussex were in early trouble away at Lewes but fought back for the win. Colin Southouse and Ric Bithell had put the hosts 2-0 up but West Sussex won the next four with Barry Holt, Chris Cox, Daniel Wheal and Paul Thorpe. Peter Payne added Lewes’ third leg.
Littlehampton recorded their first win of the season when beating Redhill B 4-3. The hosts started strongly with Colin Green winning the opener and despite Mark Fraser pulling a leg back the home team took control with Dave Hampton and Bill Harrison winning. Michael Wilson kept Redhill B in the match but John Dynes secured the points for Littlehampton in the sixth leg. Tom Pearse won the last.
Worthing B also got their first win of the season at home to Mid Sussex. The first five legs all went with the break with wins for James Whittle (Wor), Andy Farmer-Wright (MS), Graham Sparksman (MS), Rick Cunningham (Wor) and Mick Kirwan (MS). The crucial leg came in the sixth when Tony Jenner won against the break to leave the way clear for Pete Hickman to take the last and the win for the hosts.
