Last season’s title winners Worthing A got their Inter League campaign off to a great start with a 5-2 win away at Tunbridge Wells. Pete Sainsbury and Curt Driver won the first and fourth legs for the hosts with Martin Smith, Mike Daw, Kevin Tunstall, Joe Oakley and Terry Molloy taking the legs for the visitors.
Brighton A set the early pace following a 6-1 home win against West Sussex. Rob Hall, Grant Tully, Kevin Hall, Phil Osborne, Nigel Senior and Chris Tupper won for the home team with Chris Cox taking the second leg to give the away side their leg.
In Division Two relegated Worthing B currently sit top following a 6-1 win against Littlehampton, who only had five players on the night. James Whittle, Paul Moyes-Robb, Rick Cunningham and Alan Mepham won for Worthing with Steve Beach taking the leg for the visitors.
Brighton C returned to the Inter League with a 5-2 home win in the derby against Brighton B. Alan Brackenridge, Doug Dawson, Sandra Hall, Jean Brackenridge and Zoe Stoner won the first five legs before the B’s fought back with Greg Walsh and Mark Scott winning.
Mid Sussex made it a successful night for the home team in Division Two with a 4-3 win against Lewes. The hosts sealed the win in the first four legs with Barry West, Derek Taylor, Paul Jobbins and Ros Appleby winning. Lewes got their three legs with wins from Colin Southouse, Chase Newman and Dave Knight.
