The 2019-20 Season of the Inter League Home and Away competition started on Sunday 29th September with five matches.
In Division One Brighton A took on their B team in their new home venue of the Stags Head and came out comfortable winners. Grant Tully won the first for the hosts before Jim Greensted made it level, but wins for Matthew Knight, Kevin Hall and Jim Millward sealed the win. Nigel Senior and high scoring Rob Hall took the last two for the A’s to make it 6-1.
In the other game played Tunbridge Wells won at West Sussex. Ian Wright set them on their way winning the opener against the break and then Curt Driver won a tight second leg. Kevin Charlton got West Sussex back in it before the Kent side took control with Martin Russell getting a narrow win before comfortable wins for Richard Corbould and Paul Sainsbury. Daniel Wheal got West Sussex’s second leg with a good performance in the last.
Worthing A versus Redhill A was postponed by the visitors.
In Division Two both home teams won close matches 4-3. Redhill B were against Horsham and, despite chances in all legs, they went with the break until the sixth leg where Mark Fraser got the break back late on to beat Iain Tarrant. The decider was close but Alex Hornby held on to win a tight games against Steve King.
Worthing B beat Littlehampton with also one win against the break when Alan Messer beat Steve Beach in the third leg. Young Ben Goodwin and James Whittle both scored 10k’s to win the first two, in what was a first 10k score for James. Tony Jenner beat Dave Hampton in the decider for the victory.
In Division Three Mid Sussex beat Hastings 5-2 on the recently relocated Burgess Hill CC table. Derek Taylor, Andy Farmer-Wright and Paul Jobbins all scored over 5k in wins for the hosts.
Brighton C versus Lewes was postponed at the request of the hosts.
