Brighton A remain top of Division One, and maintained their 100% winning start to the season, with a 5-2 victory away at West Sussex. Barry Holt got the hosts off to a good start beating ex-Sussex teammate Chris Tupper but wins for Grant Tully and Nigel Senior put Brighton in front. Daniel Wheal levelled the match before the match was sealed with solid opening breaks from brothers Rob and Kevin Hall. Matthew Knight then won the only leg against the break in the last.
Worthing A also kept their 100% record and moved second with a brilliant whitewash against Brighton B, with all six playing members of the team getting 10k breaks. After missing early Stuart Mepham set the tone to take the first with 16k before Terry Molloy and Mike Daw both won against the break. With Brighton B only having six players the match was won and Joe Oakley took advantage with the break in the fourth leg with a perfect table play-out of 21,000 with all splits into the 100. Gerry Fitzjohn and Ian Lelliott completed the high scoring before Kevin Tunstall took the walkover in the last to give the hosts a 7-0 win.
Tunbridge Wells against Redhill A was postponed.
Worthing B took over top spot in Division Two with a 5-2 home win against Horsham, sealing the match in the first four legs. After an early miss Ben Goodwin made a winning break before Dave Jones took advantage of his opponent pegging a break to put the hosts two up. Pete Hickman won a nip and tuck game against Ricky Dewdney, in which both players had chances, and then Rick Cunningham gave Gareth Lloyd no chance with a confident 10k and touch, before Gareth played the rest of the table out. Malcolm Andre followed his first Inter League victory in Series Two by claiming a second and Brian Marten gave Horsham a second leg in a scrappy and entertaining leg with Tony Jenner which finished 710 played 480 after both kept finding ways to lose points. Alan Messer played a controlled leg in the last to end the evening.
Redhill B kept pace with Worthing B to move level on points in second spot by beating Littlehampton 4-3. Jim Balchin won a close first leg to set them on their way and Martin Pellett put them further in control. Steve Beach and Chris Lawman fought back for the home team to level the scores and the next two legs were also shared with Anita Blackman and Dave Hampton claiming the spoils. The decider was close but Mark Fraser just took a narrow win against John Dynes to make sure the visitors left happy.
Mid Sussex made it three wins from three with a comeback 4-3 win against Lewes. Dave Knight and Jan Bithell got the hosts off to the perfect start and despite Paul Jobbins pulling a leg back they regained the two leg advantage in the fourth leg via Chase Newman’s win. Mid Sussex then kicked up a gear to storm back in the last three legs with wins for Geoff Fairs, Andy Farmer-Wright and Trevor Rees giving them the victory.
Brighton C made home advantage count with a 5-2 win against Hastings. Moppy Scott, Steve Hurley, Brian Muggeridge, Kevin Stoner and Liam Hurley were the victors for the hosts with Chris Haynes and Fred Pope won for the visitors.
