KT in Seventh Heaven at World Championship

Kevin Tunstall won the World Championship when beating Trevor Gallienne in the Final on Sunday 13th November at the Merton Hotel in Jersey.
KT was simply superb in the latter stages and a string of big breaks saw him collect his seventh trophy.
His string of breaks started in the Last 16 with a 20k break against Nigel Senior, then a 20k against Curt Driver and finally a 19.5k in the semi-final against Matthew Knight. All of these were having been put in after losing the toss and in each his opponent was off early in reply.
In the Final Trevor was off early and despite being first to get them back struggled to get going and a peg gave Kev the break back. KT made no mistake with 8.5k in the first leg and then opened with 6k in the second to seal the win.
Matt Knight was the other star for Sussex in reaching the semi-finals for the first time. While not being at his best he battled well to beat Bob Chapple in Last 32, Stuart Carruthers in Last 16 and Dave Lomax in the Quarter-Finals.
The other Sussex players to reach the Last 16 were Dave Reeves, Gary Ridley, Mick Fairs, Nigel Senior and Stuart Carruthers.
In the Plate Sandra Hall was the furthest progressing Sussex player in reaching the semi-final.
