Nigel Senior won his fifth and Jean Brackenridge won her 18th title when the Sussex Singles were played at the Burgess Hill CC on Sunday 22nd January.
Nigel joined Jim Millward, Kevin Tunstall and Terry Race in an exclusive club of those who have won the title five or more times when beating Mike Daw in the Final. Mike making his first appearance in the Final got to 10k but a miss allowed Nigel in and he played out the rest of the first leg before touching up on 12k on the second.
Mike had been awesome all day up until that point including knocking out Kevin Tunstall with a 18k table run-out in the Last 16 and also got a 20k break in his quarter-final win.
Kevin Hall and Phil Osborne were the losing semi-finalists while the Plate was won by Mark James who beat Chris Tupper in the Final.
Jean added another title to her collection when beating Lorraine Hall in the Final. The six entrants were split into two groups of three and Jean and Lorraine both remained unbeaten to top their groups.
At nine years old Hannah Cole became the youngest ever player to participant in a Sussex Singles event and played very well in her two matches.
