Sussex A won the County Championship Division One title at the Totteridge Club on Sunday 8th September.
In winning the title they moved to 13 wins, putting the team level with Oxfordshire for the most wins in the competition history (although Sussex have won it 14 times in total if you count the victory for the ‘B’ team in 2018).
After losing their opening match 4-3 to Northants the team came good with a 4-3 against their ‘B’ team and then an important 5-2 victory against eventual runners-up Kent.
A 6-1 win against Oxon A in series four put them in control and they sealed the title by four points with a 4-3 win against Surrey.
The B team had an inconsistent day and avoided relegation by finishing fifth after getting the points they needed against bottom side Oxon A during a 4-3 loss in the last series.
Martin Cole topped the player rankings on the day with five wins and an average of 12,790 and Joe Oakley also won all five legs.
Sussex A team: Joe Oakley (5 wins), Kevin Tunstall (4) , Martin Cole (5), Matthew Knight (2), Nigel Senior (1), Phil Osborne (2) and Rob Hall (3)
Sussex B team: Barry Holt (1), Daniel Wheal (3), Dave Ingram (3), Martin Smith (2), Mike Daw (2), Stuart Carruthers (4) and Tony Jenner (1)
