Sussex A won the AEBBA County Championship 2019 at the RBL Club in Arborsfield on Sunday 15th September.
Captained by Kevin Tunstall the team won four of their five matches to finish on 23 points, to finished two points clear of Surrey in second place. The A’s started strongly with a 5-2 win over the B team and followed with another 5-2 against Northants. Their title hopes took a hit when losing 5-2 to Surrey in series three, but finished strongly beating Oxford 5-2 and Kent 6-1.
Matthew Knight topped the individual stats for the team winning all five of his matches with Nigel Senior and Phil Osborne both winning four each.
Defending champions Sussex B put up a valiant defence of the title in finishing third on 18 points, also winning four of their five matches. After the opening defeat by the A team, the team captained by Tony Jenner won the remaining four matches 4-3. Rob Hall and Stuart Mepham both won four matches.
