Worthing won a very close Inter League One Day Division One title at the Burgess Hill CC on Sunday 26th February.
With several sides not at full strength the battle for the honours was expected to be between Worthing and defending champions Brighton, and despite some early shocks this proved to be the case.
Having had their bye in the first series Worthing found themselves playing catch-up early on but going into the last series they led by two-point from Brighton.
The last series proved to be a blockbuster with the top two meeting each and the draw looking evenly matched. Brighton got into a strong position by winning the first-half of the series 6-3 to give them the lead but a couple of key legs went Worthing’s way in the last four matches to give them an 11-10 match win and the title by three points.
West Sussex were third a further six points back from Brighton, with Redhill one point adrift in fourth and a depleted Tunbridge Wells team finishing bottom.
Martin Cole topped the individual averages with a perfect 12 points from 12 and an impressive average of 11,368. England captain Curt Driver won second in the list with 11 points. Top score was made by Nigel Senior who got 20,490.
